Alessandro Shinoda.

Alessandro Shinoda is a painter from São Paulo, Brazil.


He studied photography in Canada and worked as a photojournalist before transitioning to painting.


His work is a blend of abstraction, landscapes and anything possible.


He is currently based in Toronto, Canada.

I was born in Brazil in 1978. My first recollection of what I wanted to be when I grow up was to be an artist, I wanted to draw. I drew a lot when I was a kid and in my late teens my mom gave me a bunch of oil paints and I fell in love with it right away.

This is a series of landscapes based on the different possibilities that the mind can take to interpret and understand a visual image. Painting for me is a form of expression that doesn’t need to be put into words. It’s a visual thing.
